Fighting Overspending and High Taxes

 

Balanced the City Budget every year.

 

Eliminated the Utility Tax for homeowners.

 

Implemented Expenditure Control Budgeting and cost containment techniques, providing incentives to underspend department budgets.

 

Improved Bond Rating from junk bond status to investment grade and obtained an “A”credit rating by Standard and Poor.

Reduced area-specific taxes in Village of Heritage (15%), Hunters Ridge (7%), Sycamore Hills (25%), Country Club Estate (5%), and Sierra Lakes (16%).

 

National and State awards for financial management, community innovations and various proactive programs including multiple Helen Putnam Awards from the League of California Cities.

 

Created a community wide capital investment program to rebuild key infrastructure throughout this community (Bob Weddle CIP).  To date we have invested in excess of $110 million of such projects.

 

Fought to bring tax-dollars back to the area to improve roads and reduce traffic; create recreation and ballparks and improve safety in our schools and neighborhoods.

 

Established the FONTANA FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT on July 1, 2008 to keep local taxes local and to maintain the current level if fire protection within the revenues generated by the district.
